Baby Clothes Mountain

As you all know, I’ve been on a bit of an organizing spree. This weekend I tackled Mikayla’s closet. Mikayla has the best closet in the house. Previous home owners installed a great closet system that works really well for what she needs now and it will adjust as she and her clothes get bigger.

For the most part, I keep her closet very organized. We have her blankets and such in this lovely shelving unit…

A couple baskets for socks, shoes and hats. The clothes that fit her now are front and center where I can get to them easily…

So far I’ve been able to buy her clothes at the end of each season for the next year. Right now as I find things on clearance I’m buying for next winter. It’s a great way to save money as long as you’re guessing the correct sizes. Here are the clothes she’ll (hopefully) fit into later this year…
Fairly organized, right? And then there’s this…Baby Clothes Mountain…
As she outgrew her clothes I’d pull them off the hanger and put them in the plastic bag. Clearly, the plastic bag doesn’t serve it’s purpose when it is overflowing with three times as many clothes as it can hold. It was time to clean. I separated the clothes I wanted to keep by sizes (9 month and 12 month mostly) and a third pile for clothes to be given away. The clothes to keep were taken to the garage for storage – clearly labeled, of course.
And now…

… I don’t have to use the “shove and slam” technique every time I try to close the door.

This honestly took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Little projects like this always look more challenging then they really are. So, get to it! The kids need clean closets too.
