Doubles Drama

Kmart is having yet another coupon doubles event this week. That means they are doubling coupons that are $2 and under. So if you have a coupon for $1 off you’ll actually receive $2 off. Kmart, for whatever reason, seems to think that if they keep events like this secretive and confusing and difficult they’ll be better off. It seems to be nothing but drama! I had decided I wasn’t even going to go – I was protesting the drama. But, I had a couple hours to kill today before I picked Mikayla up and decided to just go see what was happening. Our Kmart is participating in the event – and they are doubling all coupons (not just the Proctor and Gamble coupons like advertised).

My cashier was very friendly but a bit clueless about coupons and even about her own store’s procedures. I all but scanned my own items but at least I saved money – and isn’t that what its all about!! 🙂 Here’s what I purchased:
2 Gillette Men’s Body Wash
Crest Mouthwash
Skintimate Shave Gel
3 Gillette Clinical Strength Deodorant
2 Reach Toothbrushes
2 Cascade Rinse Aid (like Jet Dry)
All Laundry Detergent
Breakdown:
Cost before coupons: $63.01
Spent: $30.70
Coupon Savings: $32.31 (it’s an odd number because some of my items were actually less than the value of the coupon so they reduce the amount of the coupon for those items to make them free without giving you money back)
I saved a little over 51%. Normally I wouldn’t be thrilled with that but given the high dollar items I purchased I think it’s pretty good. One bottle of Mike’s deodorant is $7 at Walmart pre tax, so about $22.91 for 3 bottles including tax. To be able to get that plus all the other items for only $30 is just lovely!
Anyone else brave enough to participate in Kmart Doubles? How’d you do?
