It’s a Girl – Originally Written December 12, 2007

In case you haven’t heard, Mike and I are expecting our first baby – well, at least our first baby with only two legs. Mikayla Rae Murphy is due April 7. So far, so good. She is healthy as can be. She’s getting big enough for me to feel her moving around quite a bit, usually at night when I want to sleep – I fear that may be a sign of things to come.
At our 20 week ultrasound, as soon as we found out she was a girl, Mike decided he needed to buy a gun to scare away the boys – actually he decided he needed to buy a truck to carry his gun rack which will hold the gun he’s going to buy to scare away the boys. On the monitor we could see her moving around and even sucking her thumb – it was very cool!
I am finally starting to feel better. For the first four and a half months I was pretty sick. Several times I have declared this to be an only child – which my mom did not appreciate. However, the past couple of weeks have been much better. The nausea is starting to ease and the thought of food is not nearly as repulsive as it used to be. Hopefully, this will continue and even improve for the rest of the pregnancy.
We are extremely thankful for the smooth pregnancy and healthy baby and appreciate your prayers that it will continue. We already feel blessed by our little “bundle of joy” and are anxious for her arrival.
